Undergraduate

Biochemistry is a unique discipline that combines chemistry and biology. In this major, you will be introduced to biological molecules and learn why they are essential for life through coursework and hands-on laboratory components.

Biology is often called the science of life. It encompasses many divisions that all involve the study of living organisms. Biology is an excellent foundation for medical, dental and veterinary schools, or other professional degrees.

Chemistry is the study of matter, its properties and its transformations. Because every material in existence is made up of matter, chemistry is involved in everything we do, from driving a car to cooking dinner.

The BS/MSED in Childhood and Adolescent Special Education program is a seamless path for Manhattan College undergraduate childhood education majors to obtain their master’s degrees in five years. Learn how to plan an appropriate and effective instruction for grades 1-6, including how to accommodate students and differentiate lessons for the special education and at-risk students. Great teachers ignite an interest in children of all abilities and prepare them for academic success and a lifetime of learning.

Communication is a liberal arts discipline, rooted in persuasive speaking and writing. It is also a pre-professional discipline that prepares you for a career in mass media.

Computer science is the study of algorithms — problem-solving methods — and how to express solutions in software to be run on a computer. In today’s world, computer scientists are found working in almost every field, from healthcare to defense and security and from entertainment to online retail industry.

Criminology provides a pathway to pursue careers in policy evaluations, program evaluation, justice-focused non-profits, law enforcement, political think-tanks, law school and federal agencies.

Earning a bachelor’s in Digital Media Arts prepares you for a variety of in-demand jobs in graphic design, digital photography and video, animation, web and game design, and immersive media (AR/VR). The curriculum combines art and technology in creative ways, with students learning under the guidance of practicing artists and educators in the department’s Graphic Arts Lab.

Environmental issues are some of the most important challenges facing the planet today. As an Environmental Science major, you’ll learn to use lab and field instrumentation, computer applications and statistical techniques to focus on the relationship between human activities and the environment.

Exercise science is the study of human movement. This field examines how physical activity, exercise, sport and rehabilitation can help improve peoples’ lives.

Historians explain how human relationships have changed over time. They are storytellers whose narratives are rooted in reality, and specific to a time and place. They are also scientists who weigh evidence, test theories and search for truth.

International studies focuses on international relations and culture, and the transnational forces that have shaped them. Social, political, economic, environmental and other complex issues extend beyond language and borders in our globalized society.

The mathematics major begins with calculus classes, which are enhanced by MAPLE, the computer algebra system. Courses in algebra and analysis build depth.

The B.S. in Organizational Leadership is a degree completion program that is specifically designed for working professionals who want to finish their college degree. The program is offered in a hybrid format, with traditional face-to-face classes and online coursework.

Physical education is the instruction of motor skills, games and lifelong physical fitness. Physical education in K-12 schools also includes the teaching of social and personal skills related to a healthy lifestyle.

Professors in the mental health counseling program will challenge your assumptions and support your professional development. The program satisfies New York State education requirements for licensure as a mental health counselor.

The master’s in Organizational Leadership program helps working professionals develop leadership skills to advance professionally. The courses walk through strategies and techniques to lead others into success, including strengthening written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, developing an approach to leading ethical organizational behavior, and creating new ways to address a culturally diverse organization.

The M.A. in School Counseling is grounded in research and shaped by the real-world needs of schools and organizations. This program prepares graduate students for certification as K-12 counselors in New York State and eligibility for certification in neighboring states New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.
